This much was revealed on Fortnite’s official subreddit for the multiplayer sandbox survival title’s Save the World mode, with Epic Games stating that while Storm Shields cannot be restored, the studio does intend to provide “some supplies to help those affected build bases bigger and stronger than before.” Further on down in the thread, a fan asked the studio whether or not there’s a chance of restoration of player bases affected by this issue ever occurring, with Epic reaffirming that the reinstatement of the original bases isn’t possible, but it will offer “a ton of materials in order to rebuild.”

For those Fortnite fans who have been solely sticking to the game’s free-to-play Battle Royale mode in a bid to snag the most Victory Royales as possible, a Storm Shield, or “Homebase”, is a map where players can build their own personal, permanent base. Save the World fans are able to enter their Storm Shield to build or store items at any time, and they have a separate Storm Shield in each map location.

All things considered, this issue involving the reset of Fortnite Save the World’s Storm Shields and the inability to restore them will surely dissatisfy many who put a lot of time and effort into building them, especially since this isn’t the first time that the base reset problem has occurred. With any luck, though, Epic has learned from this error, and the issue won’t wind up repeating itself again in the future.

Fortnite is available now in early access for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
