As seen below in Epic Games’ developer update video for Fortnite Battle Royale, the first subject discussed is the concept of Storm damage and how it will soon affect player structures after Update 5.4.0 is applied. The basic notion is that the edge of the Storm will dish out damage to player structures during the final phases of a match in order to provide fans with “a little more dynamic gameplay”.
Fortnite Battle Royale’s Update 5.4.0 will also see the revolver be rotated out of gameplay and placed in the Vault for the time being, with Epic likely to reintroduce the sidearm into the free-to-play title at a later date. What’s more is that the studio plans on making Remote Explosives of the Epic variety, changing the Boogie Bomb’s drop rates to include a stack of two instead of one, and perhaps most excitingly, an alteration to shields being stackable up to three. Also, the dev video teases the addition a currently unnamed “new mobility item”.
All things considered, it will be interesting to see how the Fortnite Battle Royale community responds to these changes and how players react to their implementation once Update 5.4.0 goes live in the near future. Epic Games is almost always experimenting with different ways to make Fortnite more palatable for players, so should these forthcoming features be met with reasonable criticism, then there’s a good chance the developer will be listening to the feedback and will respond appropriately with even more adjustments.
Fortnite is available now for iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with an Android beta currently underway.
