Alongside the image of the map, two other big leaks reveal the friendly nature of Papyrus. The first leak is for a Limited Time Mode. Party Royale is its name and it, tasks players to “Race around obstacle courses by land or sea, perfect your skydive, go fishing with friends, and more. Other datamined descriptive text hints at a payload-style mini-game where there are “Escorters” and “Defenders.” This payload text may refer to a second LTM, however, and not Party Royale.

The second big leak is a series of brand new emotes that will likely be available in Party Royale.  The emotes include nodding yes and shaking your head no, as well as other simple emotes like waving, sitting on the ground, pointing, clapping, and beckoning another player to come towards you. These emotes look a lot like social emotes, perfect for a social map like Papaya.

Papaya’s map adds credence to the other leaks, too. The image is covered with icons, which each look like small mini-games. There’s a foot-racing icon, a gliding icon, a boat icon, a soccer icon, and also a quad icon. Each of these are likely for races or obstacle courses that can be done with other players.

Outside of the map’s intent, it plainly looks like a fun map. There’s a river that flows through the island, creating an island in its middle. There are paths, hills, forested areas, and lots of beaches. The sandbars to the southwest, along with the giant fish/monster skeleton, look especially interesting to explore. It’s going to be especially interesting if Fortnite players will still be able to build on the island.

A new map being introduced in Fortnite is always an exciting event. For some, the fact that it’s not a replacement map for Fortnite’s battle royale mode may stymie their excitement.  Hopefully for others, those excited about the idea of a mode with other types of competition that don’t require shooting, this is just as exciting overall. Expect further information regarding Papaya and Fortnite’s new LTMs in the weeks to comes.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
