Epic Games’ free-to-play third-person shooter just concluded its third chapter a couple of days ago with the “Fracture” end event. The interactive cinematic event saw the Chapter 3 island entirely consumed by Chrome. With the help of Brie Larson’s The Paradigm, players were tasked with collecting Zero Point Fragments to pull together the mosaic island of Chapter 4.

The impressive Fortnite match-winning clip comes courtesy of u/K-boomX94, who posted the video to one of the major Fortnite subreddits. In the short clip, the player can be seen towards the very end of a match, with a minuscule circle remaining. Built extremely high up, the player looks down to the ground, equips their Shockwave Hammer, and hops off their build, plummeting towards the surface. Timed perfectly, the player slams the hammer on the ground as they land, launching their opponent well out of the circle. The opponent dies in the storm, earning the hammer user a Victory Royale.

While the weapon is dynamic as well as powerful, players should be careful when using the Shockwave Hammer, as another recent Fortnite clip proves. The other clip in question has the player heavily utilizing the Shockwave Hammer’s other function, which is bouncing with it as a means of traversal. The clip shows the player bounding after a truck, eventually landing directly on the hood and smashing it until it explodes. While they get the elimination, the explosion launches the hammer wielder, killing them via fall damage.

The Shockwave Hammer is certainly an early standout among the new content in Fortnite Chapter 4, but it’s far from the only thing. Beyond the array of new weapons, new mechanics, and even a brand-new island, Fortnite has significantly updated its graphics. Chapter 4 is the first to utilize Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5.1, which uses technology like Lumen and Nanite to create much more realistic lighting and textures. A viral image compared Fortnite’s Chapter 4 graphics to the original version of the game, showing massive differences in appearance.

Fortnite is available on mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
