There is a long and twisted history that comes with Fortnite and cheating. In years past, notable Fortnite players have been caught cheating in major events, and subsequently been stripped of their accolades and earnings. On a much smaller scale, cheaters naturally still appear in casual matches, without much on the line. However, even if it is not a championship match, encountering these types players is not any less annoying.

Fortnite player Plixelz recently found themselves with a golden opportunity to teach some cheaters a lesson, and uploaded the victory to Reddit. At the end of this match, Plixelz watched from the safety of their car as the two remaining players teamed up to destroy the lingering competition. The players passed right by Plixelz, thinking it was uninhabited, and when the time came, Plixelz sprung out with their rocket launcher, took them by surprise, then dove back in before they could see where the shot came from. Not only are Fortnite’s cars good for fast travelling, it seems they may also be a great stealth option.

Dissecting Plixelz’s strategy further, there are two key factors to its success. Firstly, the vehicle: the car that Plixelz is hiding in features extremely tinted windows, making it difficult for the enemy players to even see him inside, which is to say that this strategy may not work with other cars. For example, had Plixelz been hiding in the recently added Fortnite Ferrari, this may have been a totally different story. The other key element is Fortnite’s lack of an indicator ludically that the car Plixelz was hiding in was actually inhabited—to the enemies, it was just another car caught in the warzone.

Fortnite is currently in the middle of its seventh season, and the game shows no signs of slowing down. With numerous collaborations with other franchises and celebrities, and constant updates that add new weapons and vehicles, it is exciting to see where the game goes next. Recently, a giant countdown clock has appeared in the middle of the map that has fans wondering just what it is counting down towards. Considering the litany of other game-changing events the game has done in the past, this upcoming event will probably be just as crazy as the rest.

Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
