According to Epic Games, not only will Fortnite Battle Royale’s Fall Skirmish 2018 increase the amount of winnings on the line from the last event, but also it will take place over a shorter amount of time. Instead of eight weeks of action, the developer has scaled Fall Skirmish 2018 down to six weeks to determine who will take home the $10 million and be able to proclaim themselves to be one of the top players in the field.

As of now, it’s too early to tell exactly when Fortnite Battle Royale’s Fall Skirmish 2018 will be taking place, but Epic did promise that it plans on providing “major details” regarding the matter at some point later this week. Until then, all we can do is speculate as to when the event will be scheduled, and with the first official day of autumn set to be on September 22, there’s a good chance Epic will set this year’s Fall Skirmish around then.

All things considered, Fortnite’s Summer Skirmish encountered a lot of issues, with one of the more embarrassing of the bunch being the major lag problems affecting players from competing efficaciously in the event. With this being the case, one can only hope for the sake of the tournament’s future and for those taking part in it that Epic has learned from the mistakes of the Summer Skirmish and will apply those lessons moving forward.

Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and an Android beta is currently underway.
